Reduta is an Art Nouveau building built within the years 1899 - 1902. Until today, there are only 8 similar historically valuable theatre buildings. The architect Kálmán Gerster designed the building in Spišská Nová Ves in a way, that besides the theatre itself, a hotel, concert hall in the middle of the building and also a café were incorporated in it.
This romantic looking building with four turrets is characterized by a swan sitting on a lyre, indicating we are in the building the theatre is located in. Above the portal of the theatre curtain there is an oil painting by the prominent Slovak painter Jozef Hanula.
Reduta nowadays houses the Spiš Theatre, the Town Cultural Centre, the local TV Reduta and restaurant with a café.
The concert hall, thanks to its unique acoustics, is used for organizing concerts of various music genres and representative social events.
