Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing has a long tradition and it is one of the most beautiful winter activities you can experience in the Slovak Paradise.

Besides down-hill skiing, winter hiking or ice climbing, you can get to know unique winter nature thanks to extensive skiing trails. There are ideal opportunities for cross-country skiing even mechanically groomed tracks in the national park and its vicinity.

SPIŠSKÁ NOVÁ VES the airfield area
On favourable snow conditions there is a 3 km long cross-country skiing circuit on the Spišská Nová Ves airfield area. The circuit is machine-groomed. Start and finish: Letecká ulica.

SPIŠSKÁ NOVÁ VES – SCHULERLOCH
The multifunctional area offers a marked and machine-groomed 4 km circuit on favourable snow conditions. Start and finish: Sadová ulica (close to the BMZ). The track leads across a field, along a creek, next to a water reservoir and gardens to a valley with a shooting range in Schulerloch.

GRAJNÁR FOREST SPORT AREA
18 km away from the town of Spišská Nová Ves there is the sport area Grajnár. On favourable snow conditions 6 marked circuits with a length of 3; 4; 5; 6; 7,3 and 8 km with places to rest and viewpoints are at your disposal. Trails are machine-groomed. Parking, start and finish: Sedlo Grajnár.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING CENTRE MLYNKY – BIELE VODY
Regularly groomed cross-country tracks in the picturesque countryside of the Slovak Paradise. The tracks are marked to be managed even by beginners. The longest one is a circuit track around Kráľová Hora (12 km) connecting four parts of the village: Prostredný Hámor, Mlynky, Havrania Dolina and Biele Vody. Groomed and marked tracks: circuits 1, 2, 3, 6 and 12 km. A parking area is near Ski Centre Gugel or in Mlynky – Biele Vody near the school.    

HRABUŠICE, PODLESOK – LETANOVCE
A non-demanding, 10 km long cross-country skiing circuit starts at the tourist centre Podlesok near the village Hrabušice and leads to a locality of Malé pole, over the river Hornád, underneath Zelená hora hill, to the tourist centre Letanovský mlyn and back.

DOBŠINSKÁ ĽADOVÁ JASKYŇA
Groomed cross-country skiing area offers 4 tracks with the length of 2,4; 2,8; 3,5 and 4,5 km, all of them are marked and machine-groomed. In the place of start and finish of the tracks there is situated a shelter with a place to sit, rest or maintain the skis, as well as a storage space.

NOVOVESKÁ HUTA – MURÁŇ
Marked cross-country skiing trail with a length of 20,5 km leads from Novoveská Huta (town part of Spišská Nová Ves) to Muráň and back. Start and finish: Novoveská Huta – part Strážanská Huta.

NOVOVESKÁ HUTA – VOJTECHOVÁ SAMOTA
In Novoveská Huta (town part of Spišská Nová Ves), there is an Educational Mining Trail marked in direction to Vojtechová samota. Its red (17,3 km) and blue (4,1 km) tracks are suitable for cross-country skiing on favourable snow conditions. Start and finish: Novoveská Huta near Pub Poľovník.

PORÁČ – ZÁVADKA
18 km away from Spišská Nová Ves village Poráč and its surroundings offer approximately 24 km cross-country skiing circuit in the direction to Závadka. Start: crossroads pod Svinským hrbom. The track is marked, as well as machine-groomed on the favourable snow conditions.
