The Kontra Theatre
Kontra Theatre is a professional theatre with a regular stage in Spišská Nová Ves, in the underground of the Matica slovenská.
It is the only theatre in the Spiš region which won the prestigious theatre award - Dosky 2007 “Objav sezóny” (”Discovery of the season”) and was presented not only in Poland and the Czech Republic, but also in Great Britain (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Bristol).
The focus of this theatre is unique because it premieres works that have not been presented yet, works that attained world theatre scenes and received numerous awards around the world.
